Abstract Inconel 718, a nickel, chrome and iron alloy, has special advantages, such as high-temperature strength, thermal resistance corrosion resistance, which facilitate wide usage in the aerospace industry, especially hot sections of gas turbine engines. However, machining this alloy is correlated closely with material’s inherent properties excellent combination hardness toughness, low conductivity tendency to adhere cutting tools. This nickel also contains inclusions hard abrasive carbide particles that lead work-hardening workpiece material thus wear tool. That is, 718 always influenced by high mechanical loads. article reviews chip formation mechanism 718. One main characteristics it will produce serrated or segmented chips range speeds feeds. Existing studies show serration segmentation shear localization affects machined surface integrity, contributes chip’s evacuation automation operations.
